Research, documentation and information centre on modern Africa for the Nordic countries. The Institute encourages research and studies on Africa in the Nordic countries and cooperation between African and Nordic researchers as well as disseminates information about current African issues. (Formerly the Scandinavian Institute of African Studies).
Resources include:
(a) Library: collection on contemporary Africa, concentrating on the post-1945 period, with the main emphasis on politics, economics and social science. Contains 50,000 books and reports and around 1,000 current periodicals, also daily newspapers, journals, annual reports, etc. Catalogue (NOAK) available online (contiains holdings since 1992.
(b) WWW site: with information on the Institute’s research, seminars, publications, scholarships and library. Full-text of newletter.
