Salary: £26,464 to $34,895 per annum (salary offer is subject to skills and experience. New appointments are usually placed at beginning of salary scale.)

The Institute of Development Studies (IDS) is a global research and learning organisation for equitable and sustainable change, based in Brighton.
The Coalition for Religious Equality and Inclusive Development (CREID) at IDS provides research evidence and delivers practical programmes which aim to redress the impact of discrimination on the grounds of religion or belief, tackle poverty and exclusion, and promote people’s wellbeing and empowerment. We are currently seeking to recruit a Research Officer to undertake desk and field-based research, data collection and analysis, contribute to publications and other communication methods, and work effectively with project and cluster colleagues.
Applicants will have a good knowledge and understanding of current issues and debates in international development and post graduate degree related to this subject area.
The successful applicant will have:
- Experience of undertaking research in a developing country and willingness to undertake travel within the UK and internationally
- Excellent analytical synthesis and editing skills including the ability to tailor material for different formats (web, email, etc) and communicate specialist knowledge in non-technical language are also essential
- Experience of working in fragile contexts, a good knowledge and understanding of current issues and debates with regards to Freedom of Religion or Belief (FoRB)
- Arabic language skills would be an advantage.
