The Role

As inclusive markets and enterprise lead you will lead the development and implementation of Oxfam GB’s approach to inclusive markets and enterprise, driving practical approaches to market systems, corporate engagement, and micro, small and medium (MSMEs) and ensuring OGB strategy remains relevant in an ever-changing sector. 

You will lead a group of practitioners who form the Inclusive Markets and Enterprise Practice Group and whom together support programmes led by country teams in Africa, South and South East Asia, and the Middle-East. You will also bring together a collection of different approaches including market systems development and private sector engagement in rural and urban contexts, building cohesion across these areas of work and ensuring the Group operates in a way that ensure it is more than the sum of the parts.

You will ensure that high quality advisory services are provided to Oxfam country teams resulting in the adoption of good practice and the capturing of programme learning that supports programme improvement and policy influencing.

What we are looking for

As inclusive markets & enterprise lead you will have substantial technical excellence in inclusive market systems or making markets work for the poor, plus strong understanding of (i) small enterprise development and the SME ecosystem, and/or (ii) corporate approaches that drive inclusion in value chains. You will also have an understanding of, and commitment to, approaches to women’s economic empowerment that can be integrated into markets and enterprise approaches and the ability to take this forward into practice.

This role requires strategic thinking and the ability to work within a complex network coupled with programme delivery skills and the ability to motivate others individually and as a team.
