BEQUAL supports education priorities of the Government of Laos described in the Ministry of Education and Sports (MoES) Education Sector Development Plan and is aligned with the strategic directions set out in Australia’s Education Delivery Strategy. BEQUAL is designed to be implemented over a total of 10 years. Phase 1 has been extended until June 2022 which will be followed by Phase 2. BEQUAL continues to support MoES with the primary curriculum reform with a focus on primary curriculum development, teacher professional development and integration of inclusive education principles.

The Finance and Contracts Assistant is a member of the BEQUAL Operations Team and is responsible for day-to-day support of BEQUAL’s financial operations including the preparation of payment vouchers, data processing within banking and accounting software, preparation of financial reports and disbursement of petty cash. Periodic travel outside of Vientiane to participate in event financial management activities is required.
The preferred candidate has a relevant tertiary qualification in accounting or business administration and two years of relevant experience in a similar position, plus in-depth understanding of financial management systems for a complex business operation. The preferred candidate will have prior experience in the preparation of payment vouchers, financial reports, expense forecasts and activity budgets, as well as custodian responsibility for office petty cash and recordkeeping in an online accounting software.
Along with effective interpersonal and communication skills, you will display self-motivation and the ability to work effectively as an individual or as part of a flexible, dynamic and culturally diverse team. Together with your good English proficiency (written and spoken) and your ability to maintain high ethical standards in your work, you will display strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks with attention to detail.
This position is locally engaged and reserved for National Citizens of Laos PDR.
