Short Term Advisor on Gender Equality Leadership
Aus4Skills (contracted as the Vietnam-Australia Human Resource Development Partnership - VAHRDP) is the main vehicle to realise the Australian Government’s commitment to improve the quality of Vietnam’s human resources. Aus4Skills is a five year program which commenced on 1 February, 2016.
Aus4Skills manages the Australia Awards Scholarships and the implementation of five HRD Components focussing on the development and application of new skills and knowledge acquired by Program participants and the enabling environments for their application, as well as strengthening organisational links between Australia and Vietnam in priority sectors.
Aus4Skills is seeking a short-term adviser (STA) with qualifications and experience in course curriculum development for gender equality, and gender responsive leadership and management to work with the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics (HCMA) team to review and strengthen curriculum of three modules. Overview of gender equality in the world and in Vietnam, Laws, policies and mechanisms to promote gender equality in Vietnam and Gender equality in leadership and management in Vietnam: issues and solutions.
HCMA’s GeLead expects to complete curriculum development for the “Gender in Leadership and Management” course by early March 2018. In following academic years, GeLead and designated lecturers of HCMA will provide and repeat the course on a regular basis to midlevel Party officials attending the Advanced Degree in Politics program at the HMCA.
With the support from assigned staff of GeLead, the STA will perform the following tasks:
Key duties will include:
- Review current learning materials and practice in leadership training using gender lenses in the public sector, and select good practices to build the future curriculum for GeLead
- Design detailed curriculum for relevant topics in three modules based upon the overall course design provided by GeLead
- Deliver training of trainer to HCMA lecturers on the relevant topics in three modules.
- The STA shall work in close cooperation with the Director of GeLead at the HCMA.
We are seeking applicants with Ph.D. or Master Degree in Development; Leadership; Women’s Studies; Public Management, Anthropology or a related field. At least 10 years’ professional work experience in delivery of training and education in the field of gender equality to senior level staff and/or public officials. The successful candidate will have experience working with policy makers in South East Asia either in a capacity of collaboration on research or the provision of training. You will have published academic research in the field of gender and economic development and/or; women’s leadership preferably related to the Vietnam or East Asia context. You will demonstrate capacity to work effectively with multi-disciplinary national and international staff, to provide leadership and promote a collaborative team approach and possess excellent English speaking and writing skills. An understanding of the Vietnamese culture and political system will be an advantage.
