Ethical Trade Adviser
Oxfam is a global movement of people who won’t live with the injustice of poverty. Together we save and rebuild lives in disasters. We help people build better lives for themselves. We speak out on the big issues that keep people poor, like inequality, discrimination against women and climate change. And we won’t stop until every person on the planet can live without poverty.
This is an exciting opportunity to work in Oxfam’s Private Sector Team within the Campaigns and Policy Department for an 18-month fixed term period.
Your role will be to contribute to Oxfam's policy analysis on, and advocacy towards, the private sector regarding its role in poverty reduction, specialising in labour rights in global value chains. You will also be required to work in multi-disciplinary teams of programme staff, researchers, lobbyists, media officers and campaigners to achieve the aims of Oxfam’s priority campaigns on inequality and food value chains.
What we are looking for:
We’d like to hear from you if you have experience of engaging business to tackle poverty and violations of workers' rights. You’ll need research, analytical and project management skills and an understanding of what makes effective advocacy and campaigning. You’ll also need excellent relationship management skills, the ability to deal with complexity, juggle a range of priorities and deliver against Oxfam's commitments. In return, you’ll gain great experience across a range of Oxfam’s work to engage and influence the private sector and other relevant actors.
