- Case studies of embedding human rights in business practice
-
Case studies in this paper explore the multi-layered relationship that sometimes exists between core business practices and strategic philanthropy in the form of social investment and community development particularly for businesses operating in developing countries or emerging markets. They suggest that philanthropic efforts that leverage the company’s core business expertise and resources and that aim to build capacities and promote sustainable livelihoods may have a greater impact in advancing economic, social and cultural human rights than some more traditional forms of charity.
